Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) has today announced that the R8 Tourer will join the ClubSport R8 in its luxury and performance line-up later this year. In October sales will start in Australia of the R8 Tourer, the wagon version of the ClubSport R8.

Performance of the R8 Tourer will be similar to the ClubSport R8, but pricing and final specifications are not yet available and will be released closer to the launch date. Just like the other V8 powered cars in the HSV range, the new R8 Tourer will also be using the new LS3 engine.

The 6.2 liter LS3 V8 has replaced the 6.0 liter LS2 V8 and can boast with 425 hp / 317 kW and 550 Nm of torque. How much the added weight of the wagon model will slow the R8 down we will soon know but we can rest assured that this family car will a fun drive. Is this then what the Pontiac G8 wagon could have been?

HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) adopted this name back in august 06' which was used before the launch of the Audi R8.

@ 122, maybe. But still, when people see this car and it's name. They will think of the Audi.

pathetic...they could have chosen another name other than R8

this is just a sportwagon with a bodykit (i no that that is wat all HSV's are and a bigger engine) but the sportwagon looks very heavy nd not that nice...

car.fan needs to check his facts! HSV have been using the R8 nameplate since June 1999 on a performance sedan called the ClubSport. The link http://www.pressportal.com.au/news/306/ARTICLE/2185/2007-10-11.html shows just how long this performance brand has been making world beating, Aussie performance machines.

I like those Holden special vehicles. And the names are clear for australia. Older Holden had equal names to european or american cars: Commodore for example or Clubsport, GTS, GTO I think, that has to be accepted
