There is no more denying it!! Despite numerous denials Ferrari has finally confirmed what we had all expected, they are in fact working on a brand new model and the name – Ferrari Grand Tourer.

The Italians have created a special site for the new model at www.ferrarigtcountdown.com and before the official unveiling at the Paris Motor Show in September, we can look forward to a number of teasers as the new model is revealed bit by bit. Just to get those juices flowing, Ferrari have began with a few soundbites and trust us, they are well worth heading over there for a few seconds of bliss. Despite earlier speculation stating the Grand Tourer will be powered by a V6, the engine certainly sounds to have the bite of a V8.

The new model will slot in at the bottom of the Ferrari portfolio and is expected to be priced in the region of €110,000 with around 4000 units being produced each year.

Press Release (Click to expand)

A new Ferrari Grand Tourer is in the offing and, in an innovative move, will be revealed to the fans and enthusiasts in a non-traditional way. In the build-up to the new model’s official unveiling at the Paris Auto Show next October, we’ll be revealing it bit by bit on the dedicated www.ferrarigtcountdown.com site which can also be accessed through the official Ferrari portal at www.ferrariworld.com

Visitors to the site will be guided through a sensory voyage of discovery which, over the coming weeks, will gradually reveal the new car in its entirety and feature some highly gratifying virtual road tests too.

The new site launches today and begins that voyage of discovery with the sense of sound. The roar of the new GT’s engine will be the first bit of it to be revealed to enthusiasts, in fact, and will be followed over the next few days by the first photographs of this eagerly-awaited car whose name will also be revealed.

This is the first time that the Prancing Horse has used this virtual voyage of discovery approach which will allow it to illustrate various aspects of the new GT model’s design and the many, many technological innovations that it sports.

Updates and additions to the site will continue until the Paris Show. To ensure that you are kept constantly abreast of the new content being revealed, simply register with the site and then experience these sneak previews of this latest gorgeous Ferrari creation.

This new approach to unveiling the car will naturally also be flanked by more traditional encounters involving the release of photographs and, of course, the Paris Show. It is, in fact, just one part of a highly focused strategy that puts the web at centre stage as an instant, privileged communications channel through which Ferrari can keep in constant contact with its burgeoning numbers of fans and enthusiasts worldwide.

Couldn't they be a little bit more original with the name?

From a glance, it looks like the Ferrari has eye lashes

I hope neither this Chrysler/Porsche confirmed nor be in the list of future ferrari. I didn't think this could ever possibly come close to the name sounding like GTO... Seriously it'd be a shame... Price of 110 grant? Wow, the badge seems far more valuable than anything about this car.

babymilo, kevoluetion, shaahinMT, read the caption under the picture "Unofficial Ferrari Grand Tourer Artists Rendering"

Reading GOOD!!! I agree tho...Grand Tourer isn't very "Ferrari" or creative...they must be running out of Italian cities, and significant people...A question I would have tho, is with that projected price, might this finally be a Ferrari without astronomical service bills???

Its website indicates that you can see it in about 11 days, the sound clips definitely reveal that it has the same 60ms gear box the 430 Scuderia has.

Will this model be by price somwhere in region of V8 Vantage, Granturismo and these German ones (is it porcshe or something?)?

The Grand Tourer/GT name just seems to emphasise it's a redesigned Maserati Gran Turismo/GT.... also why did the artist think it would have those vents by the lights?

by joelynn | May 10, 2008 7:06 PM
Yes, that vents!

how does the GTR coast??? another g*y ferrari whit electronic control and that cra*...the GTR have a lot of electronic but not that much

Since the very idea of this car began by being named the "Ferrari Dino Design study"...why not just call it the Dino ? that would also be a good name because it fills the same place as the Dino did back in the 70s(?)..and lastly it is a very important name to Ferrari. The Dad gets the Enzo, the Son gets the Dino...couldnt be more fitting.

by xanavi23 | May 11, 2008 8:32 AM
Ohh and, the rendering is pretty nice, could use some smoothing around the rear fenders and maybe make those front headlamps even more like the F430, but overall a good start, if thats what they choose.

by xanavi23 | May 11, 2008 8:34 AM
And more, that car will be a hit and virtually sold out before americans learn to say "Scuderia Ferrari".

by alessandro | May 11, 2008 11:07 AM
60% of ferrari's sales are in the US Only
