The Toyota Corolla Verso is nearing the end of its life cycle, and even if it is still a decent alternative to the VW Touran and Ford Focus C-Max, and is in need of some serious updating. Our spy photographers have today caught glimpses of a new Toyota MPV in the making, most likely to be called the Toyota Auris Verso.

The Toyota Auris Verso, as the name suggests, will be based on the current Toyota Auris but judging from these new spy photos the Verso version will mimic quite a few of the new Avensis' design cues rather than the Auris. Both the Auris Verso and new Avensis are scheduled for a mid 2009 launch.

What the name of the new MPV will be is still a little unclear. After all, the Corolla Verso will make way for this new model based on the Auris. The Yaris Verso was discontinued in 2006 and the Avensis Verso in unlikely to continue as well so Toyota may opt to simply call this new model simply Verso.

Only time will tell so stay tuned.
