Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart Version-R Special Gets Stiffer (JP)
Mitsubishi had made their Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart Version-R more special. So special, that they decided to add the word “Special” to the end of the name. We were expecting a trim upgrade, perhaps a more powerful engine or another subtle horsepower increase like this years model received. But none of the above – it's something a bit more intangible and elusive, yet the results are felt in the seat of your pants. Mitsubishi has incorporated a new method of manufacturing the vehicles unibody structure. By using Continuous Welding, rigidity increases by 10%, therefore, providing enhanced handling response and flatter body roll.
The Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart Version-R Special is powered by a MIVEC 1.5-liter turbo engine making 163 hp and 210 Nm of torque at 3500rpm via 5 speed CVT transmission. Exterior enhancements include aggressive body kit rear spoiler and hood turbo scoop plus Recaro sport seats inside.
The original (BMW) MINI Cooper S had 163bhp and black plastic arches and that didn't too it much harm. I accept the MINI is more interestingly styled, but then there was only so much Ralliart could do with the looks of the Colt.
I don't think they helped themselves by choosing the 5 door- the 3 door is quite attractive, and stiffer to start with

Ralliart special? thats are far too exciting name for a car with just 163bhp... it better handle well, cos it doesn't even look that great with those plastic wheel arch extensions
