Set to get 4WD?

At this summer's British Motor Show we will see the unveiling of a concept version of the Ford Focus RS, now we have the best shot yet of the production version whilst undergoing vigorous testing on the ring.

Taken by spies from Nurburgring enthusiast site bridgetogantry.com (BTG), they claim the production version will in fact be available with 4WD after witnessing the prototype over steer while powering round the circuit, previous reports stated that only FWD will be offered. If that isn't enough, BTG say the RS version of the Focus will pump out a monstrous 350bhp which far exceeds the 280-300bhp we had expected.

We are still around 3 months away from the unveiling of the concept version, so we will have to wait and see if initial specifications reach these scaly heights (oh boy we hope so!!!), but keep an eye out as the pre motor show leaks begin to unravel.

Bwahahahah i highly doubt these specs, if all this is true this focus would cost as much as an M3. At best it will be 300hp AWD which would be a direct swap out of the Volvo S60R, but to then add another 50hp to that engine would require some heavy work and $$.

S60R was inline 5 with Haldex while I expect this to be a turbocharged 3.0 V6 (derived from Jag's XF), which means 340/350 is feasible, plus a more sophisticated AWD system. Price shouldn't exceed 50,000e which is very far from an M3, yet should be nearly as fun to drive around the bends.

In the earlier article it said turbo inline 5

Why is it that WCF are making so many mistakes now? VW R32 has 250hp.

On another note, damn Ford doesn't make this thing available for NA. The only Ford I like isn't here. !!@#$!

300bhp? That's as much as a Jaguar XK!

Weird this mule uses the older body style, not the current shape.

Being a member of the Ford Focus Owners Club I can tell you that the info we have been given is that the new RS will be released as a 350BHP FWD with a specially adapted e-dif to help it put the power down properly.

Having said that, it's still not been confirmed so anything can happen.

Witnesses saw the car oversteering and noticed a rear diff, so an AWD system is likely to be final option, which, in my opinion, would be superfluous on a raging turbocharged 4/5cyl lightweight with LSD, but makes sense on a V6 turbo (weight ratio, better power delivery, funny drifting on slippery surfaces, etc.)

Where are you guys getting V6 from? The 5-pot in the ST is squeezed in real tight as it is, they would never fit a V6 in the Focus engine bay.

The 6 cylinder engine they are talking about is the Volvo SI6, a straight six no bigger than the T5.

Yeah it makes sense since they fit this 3.2 inline six into the Freelander which is based on the Focus, which means it'd me a modified T6 engine, but once you add all the additional hardware is it really smaller (shorter for sure) than a 2.5/3.0 V6?

It won't be the 3.2, it will be the 3.0 turbocharged version, which is 1mm shorter than the T5.

One of the TeamRS engineers gave this info out many months before Ford even announced the RS formally in December last year.

If you look the guy on BTG has now confirmed that the person he talked to claimed it was the Volvo SI6 in this test version.
