Rendered Speculation: Baby Rolls Royce

Recently we spotted the Baby Rolls Royce testing in Munich sporting the body of the BMW 7-series but to give you an idea of what the final model will look like, the artists over at Lehmann have put together two renderings.

Rolls Royce will be looking to build upon the instant success of the Phantom Coupe which has already sold out its entire 2008 production and the inroduction of the new model is only likely to yield the same result with demand far exceeding supply.

The platform for the baby Rolls royce will be shared with the 7-series, but it will be considerably longer. It is also expected to inherit a number of styling elements from the Phantom including rear hinged back doors, a large chrome grille and the retractable hood ornament, however, compared to the big Phantom it will be lower and shorter.

Power will come courtesy of a 440bhp 6.0 litre V12 engine and there are also rumours flying around that a diesel could be introduced at some point. We expect to see the new baby Rolls Royce before the end of the decade.

Not really...

I still don't see how that "mule" is a 7-series body. To me it looks like an original body with camouflage.

Read the article again Bristol... it's a rendering!

Excellent idea, that, the segment, is the real battlefield for everyone, and I am pretty sure that even the Stutgart guys will deeply suffer from this move of the Bavarians. I like the car, awesome. And the diesel, that sounds more fascinating. It will be a fastest Leopard tank on the autobahn...

its gonna be a hit!

Sorry this "render" doesn't even fit the lines on the spied car. The front has a much more curved line and doesn't look like a scaled version of the large one

by foose1397 | April 1, 2008 3:38 PM
hope not... its ugly as hell

This rendering is totally farfetched, expect normal (non-suicide) doors and the new-gen sleeker grill seen on the Coupé/Drophead.

i agree this rendering doesnt follow the lines of the spied car and a agree i dont see this as a altered 7 series it looks like a camo car. the highly succesful design direction at RR currently would not put the deisign cues of the phantom headlights and the drophead/coupe on the same car it just doesnt follow at all, i think they will take a new direction with this car perhaps a more curved design like on the bentleys.

well aren't these renderers pretty stupid. what's the point of having orange side reflectors..in the front. the lights are horrendous and the top doorline is too high. the rest. is..ok

by MB.65 | April 1, 2008 7:42 PM
and another thing. how do they expect the trunk to open when the light is smack right in the middle of the panels. seriously i hate stupid renderings like these.

by MB.65 | April 1, 2008 8:08 PM
Planning to make your own, then? These renderings are a bit of a courtesy, like the chic quotes you get on coffee cups.

by Bremen_Koenigsegg | April 2, 2008 1:17 AM
Did you happen to make these renderings? I'd think not so what are you complaining about?..A terrible rendering is a terrible rendering irregardless of wheteher it's a courtesy or not and these are artists who are paid to make these renderings. If you're paid to do something, why not do it right instead of messing up stupid details? And Its not like i'm the only one complaining about bad renderings on this site. go find someone else to pick on

Bentley is THE QUEEN of luxury . not RR.

by german-cars-lover | April 1, 2008 11:32 PM
the queen of luxury? you're joking! a bentley is nothing else than a tarted up volkswagen phaeton, driven by footballers, adult entertainment producers and wannabes like paris hilton!

Only the Flying spur and the GT are done up Audis, although they are better they are pretty much the A8-L W12. But the Arnage is amazing especially the Brooklands, the interior is nicer than the Phantom and more comfortable.

Sure it'll be better than the rest.

Schön und gut. Ein baby Rolls, die Preis Frage wird wahrscheinlich eher Knabenhaft.

by gerhardg1 | April 2, 2008 9:48 PM
Looks like a 300C with a RR grill and tail lights......

Nothing will be 'baby' about this car! It's likely to be bigger than a LWB S-Class.

by Lutzie | April 6, 2008 1:04 PM
No what have they done with teh car that is the Phantom? it looks like a bentey which isnt good.
