Will Porsche Carrera 4 Switch to Haldex AWD?
We here at WorldCarFans are hearing rumors that the Porsche Carrera 4 could be getting a new Haldex All-Wheel-Drive system. If true, it would mean Porsche is dumping out their visco clutch-based system in favor of the Swedish-made transmission. Also rumored is an electronic limited slip differential, making this car a true all-weather runner.
These spy shots were taken up in northern Sweden, where a group of Porsche prototypes and test vehicles were undergoing a variety of trials. Previous spyshots of the facelifted version of the Porsche (997) 911 have shown new front and rear bumpers, with pinpointed daytime LED driving lights, and LEDs in back. The word is that these cars are sporting direct-injection engines with a higher power output and better gas mileage.
Everyone spotted the new wheels, right?
It's about time Porsche dumped those slush-clutches in favour of electrically operated units. This will undoubtedly put the AWD 911s on an entirely different level.
Hope that Haldex system isn't the same from the S3. COZ IS SUCKS!!

The Haldex system with 32-bit proprietary controller will be incredible! And I can't wait to hear a turbo DI flat-6. It'll prolly give goose-bumps.
Yeah, it should feel more like a true RWD car but, to me, the real 911's are the Carrera S (style) and GT3 (handling/performance) versions. And with DI these naturally aspirated magnificent engines will only sing better (yet).
