Most Luxurious Grand Cherokee Ever Breaks Cover
Nowadays if you are driving a mid-sized SUV in the US, or in Europe and the rest of the world, a large SUV, you probably aren’t driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The model is not as hot as it used to be, while Chrysler’s ongoing financial woes aren’t helping the situation either.
Jeep is now working hard at getting those bums back on to Grand Cherokee seats, starting with the new upgraded 2008 model. The list of stuff you get with this vehicle is as tall as tales previously reserved for unscrupulous politicians. MyGIG infotainment system is probably top of the list with its endless capabilities like MP3 playability, Bluetooth, 20GB integrated hard drive and DVD player.
New looks go with the new stuff, looks like softer dashboard materials, new interior colours, new instrument cluster and a better-adjustable steering wheel column. Exterior also makes some changes to stand out from the unface-lifted model, like the new grille design and new headlamps.
Hill Descent is quite a nifty little technology that helps “hold” the vehicle still on a steep, making it possible to move off without rolling back, even with a trailer in tow. Real nifty. A new model line called S-Limited gets introduced too, with looks obviously borrowed from SRT-8 like “arrowhead”18-inch alloy wheels, SRT body-coloured wire mesh front grille and body-coloured wing mirrors.
The United Kingdom gets this Jeep Grand Cherokee upgrade immediately.
never knew plasticy looking interiors with fake woods was considered "luxury" lol especially on a JEEP havent these car companies realized that gas is get more expensive every day??
You obviously didn't read the article. Plus the Overland version (US and Euro markets, Limited S in the UK?) has real wood, premium leather covered seats and dashboard.
I know jeep has had a nasty time with reliability in the past. You have to ask yourself... is this really going to help their image problem?
It stil have problems whit the suspension? (wichbones)´cause it`s to heavy and its bad done?
um dat wood panaling looks disgusting... i dont like this car... it looks old styling wise... so it just doesnt do it for me...
dated,cheap-looking interior and exterior. why buy this when there are so many better SUVs on the market, or if want an actually good car buy a luxury saloon or estste instead.
If you want a Mercedes ML 320 CDi as equipped as the GC Overland is, you'll have to pay nearly 20,000? more, and this is a clearly more capable offroader than most of the SUV competition, except maybe the Touareg and ML with Offroad pack.
I love it . it's really great !! But not fantastic as far as ML-Class .
i have a 2007 overland...its pretty good, but a bit too much plastic on the interior. but the wood is real, the ride is good, and offraoding is better than most others. power is great, thanks to the hemi.
i like the elegantly appointed interior. you are doing great progress , Jeep . keep the good work going !

funny i had just read the road test of the 2008 overland crd, and it's quite improved, incorporing reductor gearbox, three diff locks, hill descent in all gears, etc. a friend of mine has the previous version, mercedes' v6 turbodiesel allowing for energic acceleration and pleasant offroad experience at a reasonable price
