New Baby Rolls Royce Spied in Munich Traffic
Hiding under the crude BMW 7-Series camouflage of this prototype is the upcoming new Rolls Royce entry level model internally code named RR 4 but also known as the “baby” Phantom.
The steel body's platform will share components with the new BMW 7-series, but it will be considerably longer than BMW’s flagship. The new four door luxury sedan is going to feature styling elements of its big brother Phantom, such as the rear hinged suicide back doors, a large chrome grille and the retractable hood ornament, however, compared to the big Phantom it will be lower and shorter. Release of the RR 4 is expected before the end of this decade.
Power is said to come from a 6.0 litre V12 engine making 440 bhp. Talk is also of a diesel engine being made available later on. Its sales price is estimated between 200,000 and 300,000 Euros.
this is a drivers car. RR had always released smaller cars to appeal to a specific audience that wanted to "drive" the cars rather than being driven in them. for example, the 20/25, 20/30.
Well Bentley released their "baby" the continental flying spur and its been a great success, it is a more modern and fresh design and fills in a void between lets say a 760Li and a Phantom which is a pretty big market.
Oh and i forgot to mention that i wouldn't be surprised if in the near future they release another baby based on the BMW 6 series to compete in the grand tourer category vs the continental GT.
looks good, lower and more sporty than the Phantom, I think for Rolls the only way is up (until the recession hits EU and USA AND the oil dries up in the arabic states AND something stops the rise of China and India- oh guess they'll do well for quite a while then!)
Feel pity for the flying spur.. This car will knock any royal-entry cars as long as it will be having that badge.. BMW has done a great job with this company.
Yup, the Flying Spur is totally out of balance with that horrid FWD platform borrowed from VW and its short nose, the antithesis of a genuine Bentley! Hopefully the next generation will learn from the new A4/A5 centered engines + inherent RWD look. In the mean time this upcoming RR (Silver Shadow III?) is going to kick some a$$!
can i get a a rolls royce that competes with bentley gt in styling handling and power
THis could be a great idea for Rolls. Its not like they are moking a Rolls Royce Corolla. Competing with the 7-Series BMW (100,000) range opens up a whole new market.

am i the only one who thinks a baby roller detracts from the brand? the ultimate in luxury and now the all new... not so ultimate in luxury...
