Pininfarina has provided its fans lots of information on the Sintesi concept car in the last few weeks, but even so there was plenty more to know about this amazing vehicle. And it is amazing not only because of the revolutionary styling, but also because it already is where most cars in the future will be (or long to be…).

First of all, it was nice to know the car will have an engine in each wheel, but it is much more interesting to know each of them produces 20 kW, or around 27 cv. Multiply that by 4 and you will have the total power of the car, 108 cv, what may seem little, but not for a light vehicle, with only 0.272 of drag coefficient and a frontal area of 2.11 m². If you doubt it, check out the speed of the Sintesi in the Sport mode: 248 km/h! This speed can be reached with battery boost. In a regular use, it reaches up to 222 km/h. If Sintesi counts only on its fuel cells, with are arranged close to the wheels, the car can keep a top speed of 191 km/h.

Surprisingly, each wheel has an available torque of 750 Nm. This number alone is similar to the ones found in supercars, what would lead us to think the Sintesi would have dragster acceleration (multiply any supercar by 4!), but its acceleration figures are not extraordinary: it gets to 100 km/h in 9.1 s in the regular mode and in 7.5 s in the Sport mode. This is probably on purpose. Pininfarina must have tried to keep the car as elegant as its lines suggest, not a monster dressed as a lady.

Measuring 4.79 in length, 1.99 m in width and 1.30 m in height, with a wheelbase of 2.99 m, the Sintesi has proven to be a people’s oriented vehicle, with plenty of space, nice performance numbers and striking looks. It’s a pity we can’t even wait for it to reach the production lines, but the ideas it has showcased will surely be in dealers someday.
