Lancia is headed for an important year with the production launch of their new Lancia Delta at this year's Geneva Motor Show. The five-door hatchback was first revealed as the Delta HPE Concept at the 2006 Geneva show and will be based on the Fiat Bravo platform. The Lancia Delta will be a more luxurious Fiat Bravo, with more interior room (the Bravo platform will be stretched) and leather / Alcantara interior.

Dutch car magazine AutoVisie reports that other projects for the Italian brand include an SUV and Coupe Cabriolet, for both projects a decision whether they will make it to production is expected to be made later this year. Maybe more interesting is the fact that Lancia is secretly working on initial plans for a sports car á la Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. The next generation Lancia Ypsilon is also scheduled for this year, it will be available as a three and five-door.

The Lancia Thesis on the other hand will be axed at the end of its life-cycle in 2010.

@asif: Hey do you know the "stilnovo" concept? I think no. Look:img71.imageshack.us/img71/2703/stilnovo14fa.jpg You will find where Nissan took "inspiration" for the Murano. Ah, Nissan Micra, as Nissan declared, is inspired by another Italian car: the original Fiat 500. Ps: sorry for my English!

Your comments are a bit short sighted - Lancia has brought some beautiful cars to the UK. I still have a soft spot for the Integrale, putting aside Fulvia Coupes and the like. I'd like to Lancia back with some of the creations mentioned in this article.

Asif,

that rear is from the lancia Ypsilon, which means, that " is a complete rip off " from Nissan.

Rear is originaly from Lancia Thesis. Later it was adopted for Lancia Y and Musa. Then Nissan made a copy of it (and not just tjem Morgan Aeromax hase the same light as Thesis). And Lancia Delta just continues house designe. So asif you are very wrong.

i think you will find that if anything the Murano is an extension of the Micra which if anything the Ypsilon (pathetic name) resembles also lets not forget the Micra was launched/shown before that car. i think Lancia has lost its way in terms of design. the thesis is just plain wrong and laughably ugly. who says the italians make the most beautiful cars in the world? fiat multipla anyone? no thought not....
