GT-R Sheds Weight, Gains Power

We’ve all heard rumours of a Spec V version of R35 Godzilla, known to many as the Nissan GT-R. Best Car has now rendered the car, based on leaked inside into from Nissan.

Spec V is the superformance version of an already pumped up sports car. By using several techniques even more performance can be wringed out of the GT-R. Of utmost vitality is that the car goes through a weight-loss programme, which means it may lose up to 100kg, which is the equivalent of a fully grown adult male of average weight. “Lose the man, lose the milliseconds” is Spec V thought.

Typically extra revisions include improved suspension, advanced roll cage and a reprogrammed all-wheel-drive system, named ATTESA-ETS. Power is said to be up to 382kW/ 512 bhp, coupled with an all-carbon fiber body, should make the Spec V not only quick as far more expensive super cars, but only handle even better than its Clark Kent self around challenging places like the Nurburgring. Steering should also be more direct.

More power, less weight? Looks great!

by joseferreira | January 29, 2008 11:16 PM
that is insane, the body is entirely made of Carbon fiber! and with 32 more hp 0-60 times will probably be getting scary close to 3s... one can only wonder if the price for spec V will be under 100 g's

by Joe_Limon | January 29, 2008 11:30 PM
Are there any orientative prices? I guess that all-carbon fiber body must be ordered with the car itself, otherwise costs are going to be prohibitive. Awesome beast!

by ck314 | January 29, 2008 11:35 PM
its realy amazing .....but the one thing i didn't like it is the teptronic gear its not fully manual...

by blaconque | January 29, 2008 11:41 PM
it i'll be the ultimate fun if they make it Manual

by blaconque | January 30, 2008 12:01 AM
what do you mean its not manual. the triptronic has two manual speedshift settings (and a gear lever) and an automatic as well.

by MB.65 | January 30, 2008 1:05 AM
He obviously meant a manual transmission where you're full in control, aka real driving, clutching, unclutching, heel-toe, you know...

by ck314 | January 30, 2008 1:55 AM
of course. it was so obvious.

by MB.65 | January 30, 2008 3:11 AM
i understood it just fine ahahaha... are u a car fanatic or a noob?? when someone says "manual" on a car site... i'm pretty sure 99% of the time they mean "clutch", "5-6 speed stick", or w/e fool :):)

by carcrazy1234 | January 30, 2008 4:55 AM
MB.65 r u stupid? your obviously a noob. dont leave messages like that if you dont know what your talking about u fool. "speedshift" = your american, i guess tiptronic is the closest you'll ever come to a "manual". when people say manual, it refers to clutch pedal being involved with a gear lever where you select gears. skyline is tiptronic only. i so wish they had a manual option...maybe in the future?infact im so suprised they didnt! maybe it was so that they could get a faster 0-62 time like for the 911 (997) turbo with its faster 0-62 time coming from an automatic box.

by super_car_muscle_man | January 30, 2008 7:10 PM
some people just do not read and understand the specifications. the gt-r is equiped with double clutch 'manual' gearbox. the term 'tiptronic' or 'triptronic' whatever you want to call it comes from porsche who allowed their automatic gearboxes to be selected manually though paddle shifting or stick on a + and - mode.

this car has a double clutch manual gearbox and for us to change the clutch you might need an extra leg haha so it is brilliant and i would not want it any other way. i will offer loads of fun like a manual gearbox becuase unlike an auto'oil' box, cummunication between the throttle pedal and wheel is mechanically link and uninterrupted. same technology as on the Bugatti Veyron.

by aesthetics | February 1, 2008 9:05 AM
aesthetics, Just because it isn't a traditional autobox with torque converter it doesn't make it manual, you just shift manually... or not (auto mode) which further proves the point. So call them double clutch robotized transmissions or sequential or w/e but not manual.

by ck314 | February 1, 2008 6:52 PM
Tiptronic is from Porsche. You can't call that name with GT-R. Its a Six speed semi automatic like tiptronic. There is no fully manual shifting like in 911 turbo. Modes - Fully automatic shifting or full sequential manual control via gearshift or steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

by SuperCJ427 | February 29, 2008 11:19 PM
Simple difference is you can't skip gears in sequential manual and can in traditional manuals. They are not same.

by SuperCJ427 | February 29, 2008 11:36 PM
Thank You Lord! And Nissan!! Amazing!

by nickkop | January 30, 2008 12:52 AM
Ugly as any modified car without taste. Looks fast but toyish and cheap. Ferrari in the back, mitsubishi in the front.

by out4ride | January 30, 2008 3:55 AM
nahhh...

by carcrazy1234 | January 30, 2008 4:56 AM
Gee, if you knew anything about GTR's you would know that the rear end dates back decades to when the GTR was first released. The rear is a trademark of the GTR. Now the front, actually Mitsu, copied the GTR with its lancer, although, it was released first. I think the idea for mistu was that it got the idea off of audi. Of course it's only speculation, but the GTR's front end was first, then came the lancer.

by ferrariguy | January 30, 2008 11:23 AM
What makes you think lancer copied GT-R when GT-R wasn't even released? OH they missed the production date?

by SuperCJ427 | February 29, 2008 11:25 PM
I think it'll knock the 911 GT3 RS away.. If not the GT2... Monstrous engine, light weight.. Nissan engineering perfection.. Great Combination..

by NitrousOxide | January 30, 2008 5:30 AM
i agree.. boy would i like to see it against the GT2! if only it didnt weigh so more than a GT2 i would say it would easily win, but i would still put my bets on the skyline! nissan have done an awesome job. this car can take on supercars. i wonder how it would do against a F430 scuderia!

by super_car_muscle_man | January 30, 2008 7:16 PM
this one could really be a mark of history for nissan

by dbehmoaras | January 30, 2008 6:22 AM
Hey here is an idea, start a Porsche 911 GT3 RS vs Nissan GT-R V-Spec Championship!

by iancheng456 | January 30, 2008 8:03 AM
Leaked "BROCHURE"? Come on this is just a speculation from Best Car magazine. The title is way too optimistic.

by GDB | January 30, 2008 10:11 AM
speculation ? that is not a speculation...We already heard for manytimes v spec / evo version of the normal GT- R anyway this GT - R party is getting more awesome everytime, full carbon body ?omg, reprogrammed ATTESA- ET?omg,,,woahhhh,,perhaps they will have an 8speed dual clucth,,woahhh...GO NISSAN

by phobos | January 30, 2008 2:07 PM
Why do you need an 8-speed for 500 horses unless you want to keep some extra ratios in backup when others fail.

by SuperCJ427 | February 29, 2008 11:23 PM
This will destroy every car that is put against it !!!

by zorpas | January 30, 2008 5:11 PM
i would definetly spend big $$$$$ on this car if i had it. japanese engineering at its finest. man this car is SWEET!!!

by FOXHOUND | January 30, 2008 8:41 PM
Ok maybe things are different here in America. For example, all Ferrari are now paddleshift but we still say that they have manual transmission. My misinformation doesn't call for you to be a ignorant fu*ck. Keep that crap to yourself next time.

read your previous comment, then my answer and ask who is ignorant? go to school then comment back. incase u still dont know what i mean by it - your ignorant for not knowing the difference in the first place AND your on a site like this commenting against other people like you know? you "ignorant f*ck".

by super_car_muscle_man | January 31, 2008 2:49 AM
but i accept you understand u were wrong and on reading my message again i guess i was a little over the top.

by super_car_muscle_man | January 31, 2008 2:53 AM
Guys, let's not let our testosterone overwhelm our reasoning. I was a die hard manual shifter until paddles became faster. If you race you know it comes down to lap times. Don't argue with F1.

The GTR is selling at $125000 here in Hong Kong, and 60 units have been sold within 2 weeks. Us die hards are holding out for the V spec.

by hotrodasia | January 31, 2008 8:11 AM
When you buy a sportscar, it's all about enjoying driving, being in total sync with the car, not making laps or burnouts. Even the faster robotized transmissions will never replace the addictive ritual of a manual stick+clutch in (not racing) driving.

by ck314 | February 1, 2008 6:14 PM
Too bad Joe_Limon..., Translation: They are gussing the GT-R v-spec to be produced in October or later because all the GT-R production has been delayed, Also because of full carbon body that this car will have, US$12k~13k is the price that they are looking in Japan's market...

by samuelzeus | January 31, 2008 8:22 AM
12K is reasonable, guess it will cost a bit more in europe, then again Renault could help with their partnership and logistics

by ck314 | February 1, 2008 6:56 PM
oops.. 120k~130k

by samuelzeus | February 3, 2008 4:23 PM
lol I thought you meant the body shell alone

by ck314 | February 3, 2008 9:00 PM
is it me or this new gt-r makes the cayenne looks beautiful in comparison? its getting uglier and uglier everytime i look at it. i love the technology but thats not everything in a car. i would take the V10 lexus anyday

by aesthetics | February 1, 2008 9:09 AM
assthetics: what the heck does a GT-R have to do with a Cayenne SUV?? :)

by nickkop | February 4, 2008 5:28 AM
wait, how is this going to beat the gt-2? less horses and more weight aare already working against it. and the gtr was unable to match the carrera gt's time around the ring. the gt2, on the other hand, did.

by jai_mav | February 2, 2008 4:18 AM
About the comment of the spec v running 3s in the 0-60...they already demonstrated 3.3 with the non spec gtr. The fricken baddest car ever.

by floppynuts3333 | May 23, 2008 2:56 AM
CORVETTE ZR-1 is going to destroy this car on the track and the price is better.

by dannyboy-ayers | June 29, 2008 8:20 PM
when its times beat the Z06 then i will be worried but till then it is an over priced under powered car. Corvettes have been using carbon fiber for many years now
