Fresh new renderings of the upcoming Audi A7 have come out. The 2+2 seater, four-door coupe, which will be ready for production in 2009, is already testing, hidden under thick plastic as a mule.

Several models, as per Audi model pyramid, will go under the name A7. The most obvious of them are V6 petrol and diesel offerings, ranging from a 3.2-litre 200kW/268 bhp up to a storming 5.0-litre bi-turbo V10 of some 426kW/570 bhp. A surprise package will be the 368kW/ 493 bhp V12 TDI, which is already testing in the R 8 and is being eyed for inclusion as the flagship engine for the Q7 SUV.

Both front-wheel-drive and Quattro will be on offer, the latter on a 60:40 rear-biased split for the extreme-performance models such as the RS 7. The car will share its underpinnings with the next A6, although it will slot in slightly higher than the five-seater, but below the A8, as WCF has repeatedly reported.

The A7 could make its debut at the New York International Auto Show from March 21 – 30, 2008. This makes sense since Audi, like everyone else, is gunning for the US market in a big way, and as our renderings clearly show, the low-slung roofline should be a hit among Americans. The most recent hit car, at the time, to offer such a roof design was the Chrysler 300C and to good effect.

This isnt a real pic.. I think its photshopped.. Thats why the calipers are small and some details are not looking realistic..

there does not seem to be much difference between the a6 and a7 as of now

Audi claims to be opriginal but from the pictures here it is quite clear that the A7 is a Merc C Class(rear end slopping angle) and BMW 3 series (flame design on side). It is surprising that some of these same designs were criticised and now almost every other car maker is copying from the bangle design. This is a very obvious sign of Audi running short of ideas (as Merc has) and stealing bits and pieces of designs from the pther car makers. It's a good copy but we will wait and see the real thing. It however doesn't look like a 4 door coupe.

I agree with dbehmoaras - this car does not look different enough from the A6. I understand Audi wanting to leap on the 4-door coupe bandwagon to some degree, but there designs have had a rakish profile like a coupe since the Audi 100. I think they'll need to make this model more lithe still to make it stand out.

First off, the A7 is supposed to be based on the future A6 platform (with centered engine scheme such as the new A4/A5) which allows for lower center of gravity and sleeker, RWD-like design. Secondly, this rendering looks much closer to the new A4 than the current A6, and I expect the final design to be longer and more stylish. It reminds me of a Vectra OPC.

The side lines look like a BMW 3 series.

by ShAwNeX | January 29, 2008 10:13 AM
beautiful is an understatement

by brocky | January 29, 2008 10:14 AM
relax, this is only a rendering, I'm sure the real car will look much nicer. But the front-wheel-drive...why?

by afterace2 | January 29, 2008 10:56 AM
I really have failed to wrap my head around with Audis love with front wheel. They must be the biggest losers in this segment coz all the other front wheel drive cars (besides the Passat - same stable)are small hatch backs and quite small sedans like Hyundai, Honda etc. Are they that scared ofgoing rear drive or rather make the whole stable all wheel drive. Imagine if all animals started walking or running on their front legs?

the roof line is great..the rear end is also great, the front end, well.. like most of audi..looks almost the same with A4 A6 A8

Thats looks wicked but taking the fight to the M6 and Merc CLS 63 is not easy.

Cheers

by Rapido | January 31, 2008 9:03 AM
That's no A7, it's A5 Sportback and will share platform and parts with A4/A5, not A6.

by Rapido | January 31, 2008 9:07 AM
Another Audi that'll probably look just like every other one. Why do I find them so dull?

by Lutzie | February 7, 2008 11:10 PM
I'd say because you are a dull person; lol.
