Mazda CX-9 wins truck award
At the start of the North American International Auto Show the North American Car and Truck of the Year were announced. GM has won its second consecutive NACotY award with the new Chevrolet Malibu, last year the Saturn Auro took home the prize.
“This award is the result of our intensive efforts to put a renewed emphasis on design, execution and craftsmanship into our cars and trucks,” said Bob Lutz, GM vice chairman. “We’re honored that both automotive journalists and consumers are recognizing our efforts.”
Mazda has taken home the coveted North American Truck of the Year award for the CX-9. This is the first time that Mazda wins the award. “This truly is an honor,” said Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO of Mazda North American Operations. “Since we brought CX-9 to market, it’s been a hit with media, customers and dealers alike.”
A jury of 45 automotive journalists from the USA and Canada made the decision based on several factors, like innovation, handling, performance, safety and driver satisfaction. The Malibu beat 14 other cars to win while the CX-9 had 12 competitors for the trophee.
these things is just for Americans ... but im not interested at all
So what in the world are you doing here? Why do you read this if it's not of your interest?
Is this title as 'meaningful' as in Europe??
ok, to call a huge Pickup a truck makes sence, but not a high stationwagon. CX-9 is no truck or offroader the other side is, that we call everything in classes. A BMW X3 is a SUV, a Mercedes GL too! (?) why? a "Sports Utility Vehicle" oh my dear. Where it will ends
How da hell did this beat the CTS, STS, and DTS??? I guess bribes still work these days.
Let's not forget that GM killed the electric car. Stop buying their products. You'll feel better about yourself.
GM killed the electric car? ...the chevy volt? yeah, its GM, and its electric. thanks. next, idk how the malibu beat the CTS, the CTS got motortends car of the year. but i doubt that Chevrolet brided them to give it to them over the Cadillacs. since they are both GM. mk. and the CX-9. who cares?
If you've actually SEEN the new Malibu, you'd begin to understand why it was awarded the "Car of the year" title. It's an excellent example of what can be achieved when American Auto manufacturers put their heart into it. The sheetmetal tolerances, and all-round fit and finish on this vehicle are head and shoulders above anything I've seen come out of Detroit ever! Others have asked, "How could this beat the Cadillac?" While the Caddy is a fine car in its own right, the Malibu is in reach, financially, of a greater number of people, and, in my opinion, is therefore more worthy of the title.

CX-9 a "truck"? Who wrote those definitions?
