New American Icon

Today Ford unveiled the new and improved Ford F-150 truck at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Ford has made a 360-degree revamp of America's most popular truck with a new three bar grille, more spacious and refined interior and tough new exterior.

“The Ford F-150 is an American icon,” said Mark Fields, Ford’s president of The Americas. “Ford is the truck leader, and F-150 customers expect and demand the best truck on the market.”

Starting with the exterior, Ford has improved the light-weight fully boxed frame with hydro-formed and high strength steel side rails, delivering more towing and hauling capability while improving rigidity. The 2009 Ford F150 features AdvanceTrac, RSC (Roll Stability Control), Trailer Sway Control and is also expected to do well in the safety test performed by the NHTSA thanks to its array of safety features.

The Ford F-150 comes in 35 different configurations (three cab styles, four box options and seven trim levels) ranging from a no-fuss XL work horse to the sporty STX and the off-road capable FX4. New to the range is the Platinum series, the most luxurious F-150 ever, which sports a chrome grille, 10-way captains chair, top-quality leather upholstery, Lacrosse Ash wood grain accents, 20inch wheels and actual aluminium panels in the dash.

Under the hood there is a choice of three V8 engines, namely a E85 capable 5.4 liter 3-valve Triton V8, a new for the F150 4.6 liter 3-valve V8 and a 4.6 liter 2-valve V8.

Read on for further details, and stay tuned for live photos from the show!

I don't like it, i think it just looks ugly. The rear end is alright, i think it's mostly just the headlights i don't like.
