2009 Chevrolet Camaro Spied in Australia
Army of Camaro's
The new Chevrolet Camaro is awaited with great anticipation by pretty much the entire North American continent, but that is not where the new classic muscle car is at the moment. GM is doing rigorous testing in Australia, where GM subsidiary Holden is building the car.
An amateur photographer spotted a small army of Camaro prototypes on the roads outside of Melbourne and shot them again when they parked after following them. We are expecting the Chevy Camaro to make its official debut at Detroit in January, just like the concept back in 2006.
The Camaro seems almost production ready and sales are expected to start sometime in 2008 as a 2009 model. The convertible is expected to follow in about a year.
Notice how GM has taken along some Mustangs (cabrio and coupe) for benchmarking purposes.
A friend of a cousin of mine drove this thing in Miami earlier this January. It was very controlled, they couldn't do more than 30mph on the track for example. But he says it was one of the most awesome experiences of his life
does anyone know the official release date?
I can't wait to see this Camaro.I am curious as to what engines GM will supply it with.A friend of mine has a Mustang GT.I am waiting for that Camaro and thinking (only thinking)about buying. The only thing I didn't like about the Camaro was the instrument cluster.Didn't like the guages as all.Gm should get a new interior designer.

interesting to see that the aussie plates don't really fit in the US spec space... did they cut the plates on the camaros so they would fit???
