Volkswagen Touareg R50 World Premiere
At Australian International Motor Show
If you thought that the Golf R32 or Passat R36 were the pinnacle of power at Volkswagen, then be prepared to have your world rocked. Next week on October 11 Volkswagen will reveal their all new Volkswagen Touareg R50 at the Australian International Motor Show (AIMS) in Sydney. The VW Touareg R50 is claimed to be one of the most powerful SUV in the world, which is saying something when the Porsche Cayenne Turbo counts 500 hp, BMW's top-of-the-line X5 4.8i M comes in at 355 hp (but there is a X5 M on the way of course) and the Lexus LX 570 puts 381 hp to the road.
The Touareg R50 is based on the current V10 TDI model but with a 'generous' power increase over the 230 kW (313 hp) and 750 Nm torque. The R50 also sports bigger wheels, tires and tweaked suspension and is the third model in the VW sporty R line. The interior and exterior have been redone by Volkswagen Inidividual GmbH to reflect the R philosophy.
Stay tuned for more directly from AIMS next week Thursday.

In another world premiere for the Australian International Motor Show, Volkswagen has announced it will unveil its new Touareg R50 in Sydney next week (11 October). Developed by a team of specialists at Volkswagen Individual GmbH, the Touareg R50 is one of the most powerful SUVs in the world. While Volkswagen has yet to announce detailed specifications, it promises the R50 boasts "generous" increases on the 230kW of power and 750Nm of torque produced by the current V10 TDi model on which it is based. Bigger wheels and tyres and tweaked suspension complete the high-performance package. Volkswagen Individual GmbH has also designed new exterior and interior features to reflect the R philosophy.
The R50 is the third model to appear under Volkswagen's sporty R label, following in the footsteps of the Golf R32 and the new Passat R36 - which was launched last month at the Frankfurt motor show. All three models have 4MOTION all-wheel drive to guarantee optimal traction.

Let me write my comment: The Diesel engine invented by Rudolf Diesel, Benz and Daimler created an engine based on the Rudolf's work. By the way the peoples said that todays the best diesel-engine manufacturer is BMW, they got lot of awards. The VW was the first automaker who used diesel engine in the lower class (Golf 1.6 D) , the Audi developed the direct injection (which is the elementary for all the current diesel engine), the Fiat developed the common rail injection based on the Audi's direct injection. Thw VW has a self developed PD TDI diesel engine where they riched 2050 bar pressure first time in diesel engine, and now days the 3rd generation piezo common rail can provide same pressure, but the PD did it more that 5 years ago. I know the Mercedes is Mercedes all the time, but in this case your comment is focused only the "star" but you should see behing the scenes. V
