The “Sex and the City: The Movie” goes in theatres in 2008, but it is not Carrie Bradshaw or even the seductive Samantha Jones that Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts anticipate the most. After the first spy photos of the yet to be revealed GLK-Class on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills during the filming, again a scene leak from the movie, but this time in the form of clear video footage that shows the all new 2009 Mercedes-Benz GLK Class without a disguise. The GLK footage starts in 1:04 min of the video, and shows front, rear and side view of the car.

The clear video scenes shows that the new GLK borrows design schemes from the GL-Class, but in a compact and cute way. The reason is that the new compact SUV from Mercedes-Benz is the younger brother of GL as the name GLK basically means "short version of GL", with K represents "kurz," meaning short in German.

The GLK is based on the all-new W204 Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Although the grand public debut is expected to be in Sex and the City: The Movie, the GLK could debut as a 2009 model at the North American International Motor Show in 2008. It’s expected to come with a 3.5-liter V6 with Mercedes’s 4Matic all-wheel-drive system as standard. All versions will probably have 7G-Tronic TouchShift automatic transmission. The major competitor is considered to be BMW X3.

There should be a punchier engine than the 3.5 liter two hundred something horsepower engine they use now. Heard a rumor that MB is going to tweak the 3.5 liter engine that delivers over 300HP.

Yeah, it looks really good, but first thing to do is bring the Engine to Brabus and let it switch to a 750hp-version xD

wow, i saw a Mercedes-Benz S class, a Smart car, and of corse the GLK, did Mercedes whore themselves out to SITC? Moving on i like it for 2 reasons,

1. Its boxy and reminds me of the 90's-80's Mercs. 2. Its built in Germany.

ahhh!! yeah i mean i thought the X3 looked bad,,,, this is just ewww i think when you design cars like slr and cls ..you can do better than that... look at the new x5 now thats something you could look at all day despite it being and suv.

It has the merit of displaying a personal, unmistakable design, something hard to achieve these days. PS: SLR must be the uglier MB in ages.

I'm currently looking at a Freelander 2 but this is rather interesting, pity it won't come in RHD for the UK... :(

Regressing auto design at the house of MB? I hope it ends here. Although the 2009 MB GLK will compete with the BMW X3, the style of the 2009 BMW X6 is so much more head-turning in comparison.
