European debut for Daihatsu Materia
Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. announced recently that it will exhibit the new compact car Materia, the concept car D-Compact X-over (crossover vehicle), and other vehicles at the Paris Motor Show 2006. The Motor Show will be open to the general public from 30 September to 15 October, with press days scheduled for 28 and 29 September.
New compact car Materia (European Premiere)
The Materia is a unique and emotional multi-purpose vehicle for families, which boasts characteristic styling and the practical performance of a compact car. The comfortable ride, whether driving on city streets or expressways, is achieved through a newly developed high-output high-torque 1,500cc engine and a minimum turning circle of only 9.8m. The Materia is scheduled to go on sale in Europe in early 2007.
Concept car D-Compact X-over (World Premiere)
Based on the concept of "harmony with nature," the D-Compact X-over was created jointly by Daihatsu and Italy's Italdesign led by Giorgetto Giugiaro. This new concept crossover vehicle from Daihatsu features a glass roof that extends from the edge of the windshield to over the rear seats, a front end that is pleasant and friendly in appearance, and a sleek, flowing side silhouette.
Daihatsu will also exhibit the concept cars Terios Sport and Sirion Sport that are sportier versions of the Terios and the Sirion, which are currently enjoying immense popularity in Europe.
