Looking as if it came from the future, the DS E-TENSE concept has landed in Geneva to flaunt its interesting design.

Without any doubt a striking concept, the DS E-TENSE represents PSA’s vision of a high-performance grand tourer featuring an electric powertrain. The styling is in many ways exaggerated, but seeing the car in real images from Geneva changes the perspective a bit and makes us hope that someday the concept will morph into a production car. However, as with other recent DS concepts, that is unlikely to happen.

The car weighs a rather hefty 3,968 pounds (1,800 kilograms), but it will still teleport itself to 62 miles (100 kilometers) per hour in just four seconds and max out at 155 mph (250 kph.) The batteries mounted under the floor have enough energy to last for 192 miles (310 km) in the combined cycle or 224 miles (360 km) in city driving.

DS Automobiles says the E-TENSE concept develops 402 horsepower (300 kilowatts) and 381 pound-feet (516 newton meters) of torque channeled to those stylish 20-inch wheels shod in special Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

The two-seater’s cabin is just as flamboyant as the exterior, although that 10-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system looks like an afterthought. The unique upholstery took no less than 800 hours to design and apply while for sound there's has a nine-speaker, 640-watt Focal audio system.

Hopefully some of these interesting concepts introduced by DS in recent times will have an influence on future production models.
