An early example of the Ferrari 250 GTO is listed on mobile.de but there are enough reasons to believe it's only a replica.
The seller is asking 47.6M EUR (63.7M USD or 37.8M GBP) but Ferrari historian and expert Marcel Massini warns us the car is just a replica. In an interview to CNBC, he said he managed to track down all 39 units built by Ferrari between 1962 and 1964 and this isn't one of them.
His exact words were "I can tell you that with 100 percent certainty" and „"I know where all of these cars are today. And this is not one of the original GTOs." Suffice it to say, he's very confident the car listed on mobile.de is a replica.
It could turn out to be a marketing trick because we checked the listing and it says the ad is sponsored by a company selling vitamin pills and the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO buyer will actually get one year's worth of vitamins. Chances are there's not even a replica and this is just a form of spam.
