2017 Porsche Panamera mules spied testing V6 and V8 engines [video]

Will use the MSB platform

A couple of 2017 Porsche Panamera mules were spied testing what are believed to be new V6 and V8 engines.

In March we heard a rumor about Porsche leading development of brand new V6 and V8 engines for the second generation Panamera and chances are the motors were fitted onto these two mules spied on the Nürburgring in Germany. Some say the engines will be offered in both rear- and all-wheel drive versions of the new Panamera which is likely slated for a late 2016 release as a 2017MY.

The vehicle will utilize the MSB platform which will make more extensive use of aluminum and high-strength steels so expect a lower curb weight compared to the current model that weighs 4,343 lbs (1,970 kg) in the Panamera Turbo flavor.

In related news, Porsche is reportedly considering an expansion of the Panamera family for the second generation, with two-door and soft/hard top versions being among the potential candidates but don't expect these from day one as additional members will probably be added later during the car's lifespan.
