Will be unveiled next week in Beijing

An allegedly official image of the 2014 Hyundai ix25 has surfaced the web prior to the crossover's expected debut on April 20 at the Beijing Motor Show in China.

There's not a lot to talk about in terms of the design as it looks a lot like the ix35, albeit without the dual front grille configuration of its bigger brother. It has received sweptback headlights and silver underbody protection together with a hexagonal front grille and black & silver roof rails.

The vehicle will ride on the same platform as the second generation i20 and will be assembled by the Beijing Hyundai joint venture in China. It will share its engines with the supermini so expect to find an array of economical small gasoline and diesel three- and four-cylinder units.

Chances are the model will be officially introduced on April 20 during the Beijing Motor Show's press day before going on sale in the second half of the year.

This is not an official picture, is an old render made by Car and Driver Brazil magazine. The Chinese took the picture, painted to hide the watermark, put a background image and the blurred wheels to give a sense of movement. This is the original picture: http://caranddriverbrasil.uol.com.br/segredos/projecoes/prepara-que-agora-e-hora-do-hb20-suv/5889

Not to sound like an Audi fanboy or anything, but are Hyundai's grills starting to take the same shape as Audi's goatee grill? On the front page next to that Abt A5 the similarity can really be seen. Hyundai's doesn't seem to be as long though.

Where have you been hibernating for the past 5 years? Hyundai first introduced their trademark hexagonal grille back in 2009 and it's Audi that's copying Hyundai with their grilles that are taking on more of the hexagonal shape from a previously rectangular one.

I like to hibernate under large rocks, I feel it provides the best shelter from car-related news XD
