Nissan has launched the Note DIG-S in Europe.

Designed to combine performance with fuel efficiency, the Note DIG-S has a supercharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine with 98 HP (72 kW) and 147 Nm (108 lb-ft) of torque. It can be connected to a five-speed manual or an optional XTronic transmission. When paired to the manual transmission, the model returns 4.3 L/100km (54.7 mpg US / 65.7 mpg UK) and has CO2 emissions of 99 g/km.

In order to get these impressive numbers, the engine has been equipped with a start/stop system and a Miller Cycle combustion process that "introduces a two-stage intake stroke - thus producing, in effect, a fifth stroke - by keeping the intake valve open for longer than in a conventional engine." The supercharger also has an electronic clutch which enables it to be disconnected from the engine when not needed.

The Note DIG-S also has a retuned suspension, a revised steering system and 16-inch alloy wheels.

In related news, Nissan unveiled the Note Dynamic Styling Pack. It features an aggressive front bumper, revised side skirts and a faux carbon fiber rear diffuser. The package also includes a gloss black grille, tinted headlights and a tailgate-mounted spoiler. Rounding out the changes are a three-spoke steering wheel, privacy glass and 16-inch alloy wheels with a two-tone finish.
