Next-generation Ford Expedition & Lincoln Navigator could arrive around the same time

Ford's group vice president of global product development recently downplayed the possibility of a F-150 diesel but that could soon be changing.

According to The Truth About Cars, the success of the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel has pushed Ford to develop a new 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine codenamed "Lion." There's no word on specifications but it is expected to be offered in the F-150 by 2018.

Around this time, we can also expect to see the next-generation Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator. Little is known about the models but they are expected to feature aluminum bodies and a a ten-speed automatic transmission.

Interestingly, the report says the next-generation F-Series Heavy Duty will eschew the weight saving aluminum and use steel compoents instead.

Finally more attention to trucks and their mileage. I could never understand why cars were the first hybrids, etc. A PHEV truck would be a good idea also.
