Should debut in Geneva

The first purported pictures of the BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe have surfaced online.

Set to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, the model will follow in the footsteps of the 3-Series Sedan but adopt sportier bumpers and a more dramatic roofline. Little else is known about the car but previous reports have indicated it will have frameless doors and a 2810mm long wheelbase that is identical to the 3-Series Sedan and 4-Series Coupe.

Engine options will likely carryover from the standard model so expect choices to include a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 240 bhp (179 kW) and a 3.0-liter six-cylinder with 300 bhp (224 kW) and 300 lb-ft (406 Nm) of torque. We can also expect a handful of diesel engines and an optional all-wheel drive system.

They've just started the even number naming for coupe/convertible models and it is only the first generation when they've already violated it by making a 4-door 4-series. I am a big fan of BMW but now I am starting to feel embarrassed that I can't even distinguish some of the models. However, the question arises if it really is my fault :/

Take a BMW 3 Series. Chop two of its doors off. Add two doors back on. Charge $10,000 extra. BMW 4 series GC.

They should have made the profile closer to that of the 6 series GranCoupe.

It's a 4 door sedan based on a coupe version of another 4 door sedan. Now that's crazy!!

I think BMW has gone NUTS!! Way too many variants and lines that look almost the same! I miss the good ol' days of 3, 5, 6 and 7 series only! Every car then had its own identity, they had character. Whether or not you liked them, at least they looked distinct from other brands and from THEIR OWN SIBLINGS! While I can understand that the market is different now and they want to fill every segment (although I'm not sure if that's really necessary in order to be profitable), at least make them look DISTINCT from each other! The styling similarities are making all the models (at least 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 series) very bland and diluted! Very BORING!

The front doesnt even look as low as the coupe it really does just look like a facelifted 3 series saloon. im a bmw fan and im considering buying a 4 series but I must admit it looks alright but not amazing but when I compare performancd economy and driving dynamics to the competition it beats them all

BMW designers were too lazy to make the GC look different than the sedan.
