Debuts at NAIAS today

The first official images of the Kia GT4 Stinger concept have been published, prior to the vehicle's public debut set for later today at NAIAS in Detroit.

These fully revealing images show an interesting rear-wheel drive coupe featuring Kia's signature tiger nose grille and vertical headlights with a row of LED daytime running lights. Wearing an Ignition Yellow paint hue, the concept seems to be sitting quite low and has a dual vented hood along with muscular wheel arches. We also notice the appealing sloped roofline, raked windscreen and a double exhaust arrangement while the LED taillights have a C-shape configuration.

The 2+2 coupe has a minimalistic interior cabin with very few buttons, lots of metal inserts and body-hugging seats. There's also a flat-bottomed steering wheel and an interesting see-through A-pillar.

Kia already said the GT4 Stinger has a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter T-GDI gasoline engine developing 315 bhp (235 kW) transferred to the rear axle through a close-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox. Other highlights include Brembo Gran Turismo two-piece cross-drilled rotors with four-piston calipers, a bespoke chassis and 20-inch alloy wheels which have aluminum inserts and are wrapped around in Pirelli P Zero tires.

Full details will be available later today.

The headlights look like Cadillac wannabe, and not such a good clone for that matter. Nope. And the A-pillar design element is completely out of whack. It could've been interesting, but my guess is someone dreamed a brilliant idea, but by the time they finished drawing it up, they forgot most of it and started placing various lines there, just to finish the concept.

I see a lot of Audi/VW design cues. Think VW roadster concept/ Audi R4 concept/ Audi quattro concept(the first one)etc. That said i think it looks great and i hope to see a version of it produced. Nice job Kia.

To my eyes it seems to have design cues from Audi, right down to the steering wheel...although of course, it shouldn't be all that surprising given the KIA head of design's past links with Audi. Overall, though, I must say that while I don't love it, I don't hate it either...as user PAA put it, it's "weird but definitely interesting".

The overall shape and the rear look phenomenal, those headlights totally ruin the front, though. Give it some nice laser headlamps in an interesting shape and bring it to market, Kia!

Weird but definitely interesting. The Koreans keep winning me over bit by bit. I wonder if they'll actually convince me to buy one.
