To be shown at NAIAS

The first allegedly official images of the 2015 Subaru WRX STI have been published online, ahead of a confirmed NAIAS debut later this month.

Subaru introduced the 2015 WRX back in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show and now we catch a first glimpse at the hotter STI variant which adopts a more aggressive body kit painted in Subaru's traditional World Rally Blue matched with golden alloy wheels. Apparently this finish will be reserved initially for a first edition which is likely to come with other enhancements.

While the aforementioned WRX makes use of a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter boxer rated at 268 bhp (200 kW) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm), the STI is rumored to get a larger 2.5-liter turbocharged four-banger with 300 bhp (224 kW) and 290 lb-ft (393 Nm).

Already teased, Subaru will unveil its “iconic performance flagship model” later this January in Detroit.

Subaru got soft with the STI, the 98' version looks meaner than this and the gas mileage is pretty bad.

The only way Japanese can make a fast car is to make it more raw and less comfortable. Their excuse is low price. Germans on the other hand can do fast while retaining all luxury and comfort. These days, German cars are closing the price gap in their performance car models. There is no more valid reason to buy a Jap sportscar anymore.

you want comfort, for others that would be a nightmare (less electronics is better). That's the wonder of Japanese cars, the more simple is best to modify

It need more poweeeeer! Or get a nicer price. In a world where A class gets 360 bhp, does 0-60 mph in 4.2s, and costs roughly the same as STI, this car is either underpowered or too pricey.

I thought that is what the Lexus IS and Infinit Q50 were for... Adults. And isn't vehicles like the Mitsubishi EVO and the Subaru WRX STI niche vehicles, street versions of their Rally cars for enthusiasts, no??

The 06/07 Mazdaspeed 6 didn't have giant wings or look at me wheels. Not quite as fast as an Evo, or STI, but more refined.

Looks common and dated. And the side profile remembers me of the NA Civic which is a bad thing in my opinion. Not an eye catcher...

They have to change those Toyota Tecel tail-lights from 1988, it's making the whole car looks damn cheap!
