Alfa Romeo 4C plays its raspy soundtrack on video

Powered by 1.75-liter engine

Long-time WCF friend Marchettino had the opportunity to record a close-up video with the Alfa Romeo 4C revving its small 1.75-liter engine.

The video was taken during a trackday event organized by Top Gear Italy magazine and gives us the possibility to hear the soundtrack provided by the 4C's 4-cylinder, 1.75-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. The motor delivers 240 HP (177 kW) and a peak torque of 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) sent to the rear axle through a dual-clutch gearbox.

The 4C offers perhaps one of the best engine sounds for a four-cylinder car and it also looks gorgeous from just about every angle, with the exception of the headlights which should have been carried over from the concept.

Alfa Romeo says the 895 kg (1,973 lbs) RWD coupe will do 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.5 seconds before topping out at 160 mph (258 km/h). Already on sale, the 4C has a fuel consumption of 6.8 liters / 100 km (34.5 mpg US or 41.5 mpg UK) with corresponding CO2 emissions of 157 g/km.

Engine sound is important part of real Alfa Romeos, so thats why Ferrari helps Alfa with engines, and they are also developing new RWD platform for Alfa sedans with Maserati in Modena,Italy. Great times coming for great brand.

Sounds fantastic, considering it has four cylinder engine. I hope upcoming Alfa Romeo sedans with 2.0 turbo engine will sound as good as this, and of course Ferrari developed V6,V8 engines too B) ( And bring them all to U.S too )
