Will both have around 430 HP

The first official images with the 2014 BMW M3 and M4 have surfaced the web, ahead of an imminent online reveal.

The all-new M3 Sedan comes with a bold new front fascia with black kidney grilles and beefy dual front air intakes along with a redesigned hood featuring a power dome. These official images confirm rumors concerning a carbon fiber roof, while other highlights include twin five-spoke grey alloy wheels, aerodynamic exterior mirrors and gold brake calipers. Moving to the M3's back, there's a new bumper with a redesigned diffuser and a familiar quad exhaust arrangement.

As far as the M4 Coupe is concerned, it closely mirrors the concept shown earlier this year at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. It wears the same gold hue with matching brake calipers and also has a carbon fiber roof. Overall, the coupe seems to be a bit sleeker than its four-door sibling while the interior will be virtually the same on both versions.

The 2014 BMW M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe will feature a 3.0-liter inline-six TwinPower Turbo engine developing around 430 HP (316 kw) and more than 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. The M3 Sedan is expected to have a curb weight of less than 3,306 lbs (1,500 kg) and will be about 25 percent more economical than its predecessor.

A full reveal is expected very soon.

Special thanks go to Martin Kelly for sending us the tip!

It will be very interesting to see how the upcoming Lexus RCF stacks up against this new BMW M4 in terms of appearance and performance.

Well done to BMW for choosing handling dynamics over power. With those priorities the M3/M4 will surely be the purists choice every time.

I really like the design of the M3 sedan this time round. Looks like a proper compact M5.

With the outgoing generation I always thought the Coupe clouded the sedan more and I like the Sedan, So now when I say M3 am refering to one thing one model so yes..I can now say I like the M3 and the sedan!

Although the latest F series hasn't grown on me yet I own many other BMWs. From an 87 e30 coupe to e46 sedan m sport incl. e93 335i m sport and e92 m3 with a 6 speed manual. Only car missing that I'd like to add to the collection is an e36 m3. I've never complained about their interiors as I think they are very appealing for their time such as darth vader seats on the e36 era but the seat design on the new F3x seems to be very familiar to audi's rs4 optional seats bottom end with a mix of c63/rs4 head rests. I am sure the car is going to perform well no doubt but doesn't anyone else think that the seats do not do justice to a new M car?

Brutal no doubt about that, with those numbers it will make some serious problems to a cars with no back seats and trunk.

Undoubtedly, it remains the king in this segment. However, I just wish the designs and interiors weren't so boring!

Nice - very nice. But I will be very interested to see how this will stack up against next RS4, the next AMG class and - it had to happen - the next Lexus IS-F. That will likely have a 5.0L n/a V8: more power than the BMW, probably the same torque...but likely a fair bit more weight... :-(.
