Said the Renault/Caterham Alpine will be "fantastic"

Caterham Chairman Tony Fernandes has revealed some new details about the company's crossover and city car.

Speaking with Les Echos, Fernandes said the jointly-developed Renault/Caterham Alpine will be a "fantastic" car that the French can be proud of.

The millionaire went on to say the project has paved the way for a "great partnership" with Renault. He said he hopes to extend this cooperation to other projects including a city car and crossover.

Fernandes also mentioned his desire to create an affordable car with Renault and Dacia. The model would apparently be developed for Fernandes' Tune Group and would be targeted at customers in Southeast Asia.

Overpriced cars..This endeavor should be killed before birth. With the Caterham launching their entry level car with a HUGE price tag for an obsolete body design and an engine worth of Daewoo Matiz and Alpine mentioning 50k euro for their ~250hp car...Really, in this day and age of economic crisis manufacturers should decrease their profit margins to the minimum.

And yet, the manufacturers in best shape today are on the premium market, with huge margins : BMW, VAG, plus the super high end brands like Ferrari and the likes. So yeah, people making money in the auto industry today are doing pretty much the exact opposite of what you're saying.
