Looking youthful

We have just received a fresh batch of spy photos with the 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class completely undisguised.

This isn't the first time we are seeing the new C-Class without makeup but these latest photos are considerably much better. They were taken while the car was participating in a shooting of a commercial and as you might have guessed already this is the variant equipped with the AMG styling package.

As expected, it looks a lot like a more compact S-Class which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but some would have appreciated a bigger differentiation between the two models. Mercedes-Benz already showed us the interior cabin so the cat is pretty much out of the bag.

All there is left to do is wait until January when the car will be officially shown to the public at NAIAS in Detroit.

Agree the front is very E-Class'ish but the rear compliments the front much more than the E. The E feels a little disconnected front to rear. This new C will sell very well. Love the rear end. Can't wait to see AMG variants.

The fact of the matter is that this is a far more successful iteration of the S than the A4 is of the A8. Everyone is so caught up in this silly tit for tat over who did it this way vs. who did the same. When students are given identical assignments and examinations, some students score higher than the rest. In this case and as in many other instances - Mercedes Benz has scored higher on the same exam. That's it. Just deal with it.

Then the fanboys came to play. The truth is, this is a shrunken S-Class, just like Audi. Merc fanboys should just admit it. If you can have a go at Audi, you should also have a go at Merc. Some of the justifications are plain ridiculous!!

I don't like it...it looks like a cross between the curren E-class face-lift and the S-Class....Nothing daring or adventurous. Looks like VW and Audi have a new friend in the imagination-less design studios....

I agree with many of the comments previously made, this marks a huge improvement over the previous generation and way ahead of the competition (3-series, A4) in terms of design. There is no denying the resemblance to the new S-class, but Mercedes have put in just the right amount of differentiation to make this new C-class stand out it its own right.

Regardles of this car looking like S-class, This car looks Gorgeous as a car. Why can't people appreciate that? STFU and just look at it as a car. It is the best looking small luxury sedan out there. BMW ruined the F30 3series, Audi A4 looks good but too plain, Lexus IS looks like Predator. This C-class is the best looking car inside out.

Quite beautiful. I've never been a fan of the C, but I m now. Yes, perhaps the tail lamps could have diverged a bit more from that of the S but still beautiful from every vantage point. Excellent head lamps.

Nice car, but after this no one can say anything bad about AUDI...

You just can not compare Mercedes to Audi. S- and C-class share same design features but both of them look fresh. Numerous other models look totally different. A-, E, CLA-, CLS-, G-, and SL-class to name a few. On the other hand, Audi has virtually just one design they use for all models and they have been doing that for ages.

Have to agree Bulge in your pants. Aston owners are to busy complaining about reliability and resale to worry about looks. Nuff Said LOL

I doubt Mercedes-Benz taking any creative session. and don't say C-class has always been a 'compact S-class'. it's just seemed to share some features with S-class design wise. M-Benz seems to play the game very boring.

Anyone wanting to complain this looks like a smaller S-Class - leave it. Look back on all the previous gens of the C-Class - they've ALWAYS looked like a scaled down S-Class more or less, only the previous generation slightly less. Deal with it.

I agree, the C always comes out not long after the S and everyone says that and then forgets about it. I remember the 2nd gen C Class being touted as 'baby S Class' but in reality it was nothing like it

I agree with you "all the previous gens of the C-Class - they've ALWAYS looked like a scaled down S-Clas" but in this one they it looks too much the same. looks good anyway.

Yeah it looks more aggressive than the S Class and the previous C. Personally i prefer all the new compact sedans/coupes - 2series, A3 Sedan, CLA etc. Over time the traditional sedan/coupe ranges (3/4/5 series, A4,C Class etc) have become just bigger and bigger and seem more bloated than sporty

It was okay until I saw the rear, it just became an s-class knockoff. I think they are making it this way because they want sales numbers they are losing to the likes of BMW, vw and maybe ( big maybe Audi). The way it came out makes me think they could have done better.

's class knockoff' - how can it be a knockoff when its the same company. at least they don't use Audi's scale up/scale down photocopier method of design

I'm sorry but this doesn't work for me. They should have more imagination then put a E front and a S rear on it. Disapointed.

C is always positioned as a baby S, but Audi is making all models to be a smaller a8 which seem like a lazy design department than a strategic move

Rather I think audi is making all the cars look like the A4, from it going upwards
