Debuts on Friday

[update] The video was pulled down, but we still have several screenshots.

Auto Bild has published a video which fully reveals the BMW 2-Series Coupe ahead of its official launch scheduled for Friday.

Looking considerably more refined than the defunct 1-Series Coupe, the new 2-Series adopts an evolutionary design which maintains the traditional BMW cues but updated for the first-ever 2-Series. Shown in Auto Bild's editorial is the 220d model with a light bronze paint scheme which doesn't do the coupe justice.

The 220d will come with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder diesel rated at 181 bhp (135 kW) which will be good enough for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 7.1 seconds and a maximum speed of 146 mph (235 km/h). There will also be a more affordable 218d model featuring the same engine but detuned to 140 bhp (105 kW).

Check out the first related link below for further specs of the 220i and the M235i.

Truth Truth
Everything looks good except the rear. But to have real assessment of the design, I still need to look at it in real life...

great handling, craftsmanship, value, overall design... that we can guarantee for a BMW, BUT not the "wowness" to be expected tmr as what BMW usually did few yrs back, at least in my preference.

I think for the US version, there will be three models: 228d with 181 bhp turbodiesel engine, 228i with 240 bhp turbo gasoline engine, and 235i with 300 bhp turbo gasoline engine.

Ladies & Gentlemen, the new 2-Series which is the redesigned 1-Series. WHAT'S NEW??? And to compare it to the 2002ti in the advertisement is wishful thinking. I bet a 228i will start at 30K. Ridiculous!

Front looks okey but no wow-effect ... we've already seen too much similar design and the rear looks just somehow cheap...hopefully it will look better irl.

Thank God they didn't give it the new 1 series front end! But this colour is very drab, looks significantly better in the red in the leaked images

I agree, rear looks weird and front looks feminine... 1-series Coupe looked much better.

I really liked 1-series convertable, but this is just, not nice at all. M version will look better, but still, rear will be wierd.

Looks very nice but also much more aggressive in M sport, so I would go for the M sport like the previous 1 series coupe.

they're obviously trying to connect it with classic bmws, but it's too feminine looking. older bmws had a sharper, more masculine look.
