 2016 Corvette ZR1 engine revealed?
Rumored supercharged 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine for Corvette ZR1 successor 08.10.2013 / CorvetteOnline.com

It is a supercharged 6.2-liter V8?

We've already heard reports that the Corvette Z06 and ZR1 replacements would be significantly more power than their predecessors and a mysterious powertrain has just surfaced online.

Posted by Corvette Online, the images reveal an LT1-style engine with an LSA/LS9-style pulley and a familiar intercooler plumbing arrangement. That's not much to go on but the image reportedly shows a supercharged 6.2-liter V8  that was taken by a “friend of a friend” who works inside GM’s prototype center.

While it's best to take everything with a grain of salt, previous reports have indicated the ZR1 successor will use a supercharged version of the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine that is found in the base Corvette. The latest report didn't cite any power figures but earlier speculation suggested it could produce 675 bhp (503 kW) to 700 bhp (522 kW).

The last car was a match for many European cars. I'm thinking this car might overtake many of them this time around. (They had best sort out that interior though!)

It may surpass them on the track (which, don't get me wrong, would be very interesting to see), but somehow I doubt the build quality will be up to Euro standard for some time to come yet.

Agreed. Just didn't want to anger our American cousins and start the old Euro vs US debate again.
