Right on schedule, the first pre-production Saab 9-3 has rolled off the assembly line in Trollhättan.
Looking virtually identical to the model that went out of production several years ago, the NEVS-built prototype will undergo a round of testing to ensure the new components are up to the company's standards. This is rather important as a number of the car's original components are no longer in production.
NEVS didn't have much to say about the pre-production prototype, but it is interesting to note that the model doesn't use the company's familiar griffin logo. This is a result of an agreement with Scania and Saab’s defense and aerospace group which occurred roughly a year ago.

Don't mean to sound depressing, but this seems to me like it is delaying their inevitable death. For Saab to turn around as a brand, NEVS needs to do what Tata did to Jaguar, invest and modernise to appeal to all.

Thank you God - my car brand is back! Hence they are back let us hope they are intelligent to stop that long lasting overdo of 93- model and make SAAB's again. Lets hope they are smart enough to get rid from that 95-thing, based on GM - Opel part bin, for a change. Very American interpretation for an European car though. How in earth European car brands incorporated to GM managed to avoid that GM's bailout? LOL

The new SAAB will have to update its design to demonstrate to customers that they are a "different" company. They'd do well to scrap FWD only as well.

This is good news. The last generation of the 9-5 was an awesome vehicle.
