Debuted on the Fit

Honda's recent designs have been pretty lackluster so the company has introduced their new "EXCITING H DESIGN!!" language.

Set to be used on all future models, the design language promises to "promote a more unique character and stronger presence around the world." While the name sounds slightly comical, Honda says the three exclamation marks represent the three pillars of the styling language: High Tech, High Tension and High Touch.

As part of the transformation, future models will have dramatic surfaces, an "Athlete Form" body and a "Solid Wing Face" grille. We can also expect a sportier cockpit with higher quality materials and high-tech components.

The EXCITING H DESIGN!! recently debuted on the 2014 Fit which will go on sale in Japan on September 6th.

Honda Announces New Design Concept "EXCITING H DESIGN!!!" - First Applied to All-new Fit Model -

TOKYO, Japan, September 5, 2013 - Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today announced a new design concept, "EXCITING H DESIGN!!!," that will be applied to all Honda automobiles globally to promote a more unique character and stronger presence around the world.

The three exclamation marks in "EXCITING H DESIGN!!!" represent three design factors, namely "High Tech." which represents an innovative spirit, "High Tension" which represents the pursuit of a beautiful body structure and layout, and "High Touch" which represents finely-honed surfacing and texture. By incorporating these three factors into exterior and interior design, more unique and exciting Honda designs will be realized. This new design concept has been first applied to the all-new Fit model, with the application to be expanded in stages to other Honda vehicles around the world.

?Exterior design:
? High Tech.
Honda's new design identity, "Solid Wing Face," is adopted. While positioning the "H" mark in the center, the area from the front grill to the headlights will be designed in an advanced style as one uninterrupted flow.
? High Tension
A well-toned body with beautiful proportion, "Athlete Form," is realized.
? High Touch
Honda strives to realize "Dramatic Surfacing," well-elaborated form that provides an emotional attraction.

?Interior design:
? High Tech.
Honda pursues an easy-to-see/easy-to-use "Advanced Interface" by adopting advanced technologies.
? High Tension
A sporty and emotional "Personal Cockpit" is realized.
? High Touch
Honda expresses its "Craftsmanship" by creating thoughtful interiors with an emphasis on the texture of materials.

It is more sad than it is darkly humorous when an entity becomes a ridiculous parody of it's self.

It's so sad to know that someone is being paid to come up with this childish and ridiculous ideas. the japanese car culture has clearly a taste problem, but come on. Couldn't they just hire someone older than 8 to take care of marketing and stuff????

Firstly, their current "H Design" previewed in the Honda Fit is anything but Exciting...Secondly, who in their right mind would ever have a Slogan termed "High Tension" associated to their Product... I mean, what does that even mean??? Is it like a High tension Electric Cable Car or something??? Guys, wake up... Look at Mazda...their 'Kodo' design based Mazda 6 is so darn good looking that even a RWD freak like myself is attracted to a FWD Mazda 6. Why??? Cause it looks good, that's why. First, teach English to your Marketing people, second drop the "H Design" and go back to the Drawing Board.

"Super handling AWD", "Earthdream engines", "Exciting H Design", "PAWS", etc. Honda effectively stole all marketing slogans for cars.

Hmmmm, how interesting. . .isn't that just a little like BMW's design of the grill continuing into the headlights? Honda is quickly becoming to BMW what Samsung is to Apple. Hahaha. There's never any substitution for innovation.

Ow god, I really hope they don't botch this up. They already have a very big problem in their designs, a wrong move might sack them

If the design of the 2014 Fit/Jazz is anything to go by, they've already "botched this up".

I totally agree with ya...None of the current Hondas are nearly as exciting as their 80s and 90s predecessors such as the Honda Inspire and the Honda Vigor...

If the Fit 2014 is the future of Honda aesthetics then it is not a stylish future. I think the Fit looks awful.

Exciting H Design? I couldn't help but laugh, might as well name the current Acura fronts with the Exciting A Design. Oh Honda, how cheesy.

I think Acura's design language is called EXCITING B(eak)DESIGN BUT NOT AS EXCITING AS IT USED TO BE BECAUSE PEOPLE STOPPED BUYING OUR CARS. It's not a very catchy name.
