BMW is putting the finishing touches on the 2014 M4 Coupe as our spies have caught a lightly camouflaged prototype undergoing testing.
Looking virtually identical to the concept that debuted at Pebble Beach, the production model has an aggressive front fascia with an M6-inspied grille. We can also see a bulging hood, aerodynamic mirrors and revised side skirts. The model also has a carbon fiber roof, a four-tailpipe sports exhaust system and an integrated trunk lid spoiler.
Power will likely be provided by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. Previous reports have indicated it could produce 450 bhp (335 kW) but more recent rumors peg it at approximately 420 bhp (313 kW). Regardless of the final numbers, the engine is expected to be connected to a six-speed manual or a seven-speed M DCT Drivelogic gearbox.
The BMW M4 Coupe is expected to debut at the North American International Auto Show early next year with sales starting a few months later.
