No power gains

The STi-badged Subaru BRZ teased several days ago is simply the tS concept which was presented this week at the 86 festival organized at Fuji Speedway.

This tS concept comes as a disappointment as Subaru didn't fit a turbocharger so output of the 2.0-liter engine has remained the same at 200 HP (147 kW) and 151 lb-ft (205 Nm). The tS version will be available in two flavors: standard BRZ tS and BRZ tS "GT-package".

The GT kit brings several exterior changes including a dry carbon GT wing borrowed from the Impreza RA STi as well as multi-spoke black alloys, kidney grill inserts, Brembo brakes, Bilstein suspension upgrade, Recaro seats and red stitching on the steering wheel and gear shift lever. There are also some styling tweaks for the fog lamps (and surrounds), side sills and front spoiler lip.

The standard Subaru BRZ tS comes without some of the exterior trim, rear wing and Recaro seats, while the wheels have a white finish.

Each version will be available in 250 units and will go on order from August 18th. Production will start in October, with deliveries commencing shortly after that. It will be a Japan-only model priced from 4,090,000 yen (around 42,300 USD / 31,700 EUR / 27,200 GBP) for the six-speed manual and 4,190,000 yen (43,400 USD / 32,500 EUR / 28,000 GBP) for the six-speed automatic.
