Dodge is being somewhat cheated on this. Everyone wants to compare the gt500 and the zl1 to it, when they are both supercharged, while the challenger is not. To be fair, you have to compare the mustang gt, the Camaro ss, and the challenger srt8. mustang gt-420 hp, 390tq Camaro ss-426hp, 400tq challenger srt8-470hp, 470tq

If it is supercharged then why it is that big? Forced induction engine doesn't need to be big. They could get the same output with a 5.0L

They could get the same output from 3.0 as well, but bigger and less stressed engine is often cheaper to produce, sometimes more durable, and almost always have better torque curve.

why bother with another "tuned v8" like everyone else, when you have a brilliant v10 at home??

I agree...Utilize what you already have and cut cost in development???

Switching from V8 to V10, they may have to change the engine mount on the body frame completely. Consequently they have to do a frame redesign for rigidity, crash protection, vibration, manufacturing feasibility and so on. What's more, the V8 and V10 has different rotary frequency. If the frame was not designed for V10's frequency, it might cause NVH issues and mechanical fatigue issues.

the V10 is too big and too heavy for this car. A supercharged or tubocharged V6 or V8 preferably is a better fit and can provide all the Horsepower needed for this car. It makes alot of sense and would be volume/cost effective to use their 5.7 litre in a supercharged or turbocharged setup.
