A functional BMW 3-Series converted into a swimming pool was pulled over by German police who described the car as being "a convertible of a slightly different kind."
A motorcycle cop patrolling the streets of eastern German town of Eibenstock noticed a strange BMW 3-Series literally dripping while taking a curve. He pulled over the "custom" car and was amazed to find out it had been converted into a swimming pool featuring wooden railing and floral decorations.
There were three other men inside the car besides the driver, with two of them wearing bathing suits while the other was in the trunk dipping his feet in the improvized mobile swimming pool. Spiegel.de says the car had just one functional gear and could achieve top speed of 15.5 mph (25 km/h). Not like it matters, but the car lacked any license plates.
While noticing the police were on their trail, the men drove into a parking lot and jumped out of the vehicle to escape. Upon closer inspection, the policeman noticed synthetic material had been used to seal the car which carried more than 2,000 liters (528 gallons) of water.
Shortly after the incident, one of them returned to the car to get his belongings but was immediately recognized by the police officer. To make sure the car would remain in place, the policeman disconnected the engine's spark plug wires and deflated the tires. He gave the man's wallet and shoes, but ordered a blood test to find out if he was under the influence.
Later on, one of the four men told Bild "the ride was a stupid idea. It was the first time we drove on a street and we just wanted to have a little fun."
