Our spies have come across a handful of camouflaged McLaren MP4-12Cs and a new report is indicating the cars are actually mules of the 2015 P13 instead of a facelifted 12C.
Autocar is reporting a McLaren spokesperson has confirmed the models are P13 mules which are being used to test the upcoming sports car. The spokesperson declined to go into specifics, but Ron Dennis previously confirmed the P13 would use a carbon fiber MonoCell chassis and a seven-speed dual-clutch Graziano transmission.
Nothing is official but previous reports have indicated the P13 could be equipped with a 3.8-liter V8 engine that develops approximately 450 bhp (335 kW). This could enable the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than four seconds and hit a top speed of about 322 km/h (200 mph).
The McLaren P13 is expected to cost approximately €120,000 ($184,210 / €139,120) and have annual sales of up to 2,5000 units.
