BMW and Toyota announced plans to jointly develop a sports car over a year ago, but we haven't heard much about the model since then.
While Toyota Chairman Takeshi Uchiyamada has previously stated his desire for a Supra successor, a handful of BMW employees told Drive they are working on “four, five or six" different proposals. As a result, “It could be a mid-engined supercar or a traditional front-engined sports car. We don’t know yet.”
That leaves a lot of questions unanswered, but a source said the car will feature lightweight components and "be a real BMW sports car, even with the Toyota involvement.” The unnamed individual added the companies will create two unique products, so hopefully they won't resemble each other like the Toyobaru triplets.
