2015 Mercedes-Benz SLC AMG spied [video]

Internally known as C190

The Mercedes-Benz SLC AMG has been spied in action while conducting a series of tests before a probable 2015 launch.

Envisioned as a replacement of the SLS AMG, the SLC AMG (internally known as C190) will be smaller and is said to rival the Porsche 911. It will come with conventional doors, a dual exhaust arrangement and a trunk-mounted spoiler.

Power could be provided by a V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine producing around 485 HP (357 kW). A more powerful S variant should have 550 HP (404 kW), while the range-topping Black Series variant will allegedly output somewhere around 585 HP (430 kW).

Pricing is rumored to kick off from approximately 109,000 EUR (141,000 USD / 92,800 GBP). The "SLC" nameplate hasn't been confirmed yet.

I see the car moving slowly in this vid and almost no sound, could it have some electric power I wonder and they are testing exacly that here??? I hope not, electricity ruins sports cars and makes no sence. Petrol is good, combustion sounds is what we want of this

1. From the video, it looks like the lights might look just as awkward as the one on SL. 2. A GT-R in tow, is that the benchmark they're hoping to better?

Apparently this is a 2+2 like the 911, makes sense to differentiate from the SL. Can't wait to hear the engine properly!

Funny how all the 911 competitors fall short in the handling department, so they compensate with a lot more power.

They definitely fail in price range, then again 911 is a very ambiguous name since it has cars that range in $100k difference in price. I always assume they try to compete more with entry level 911 (which I'm pretty sure is where the money is).

nice video, although you could barely hear an engine. I like this car, but I really don't see the necessary point of it. I didn't buy the SLS because I am to tall and the car was not comfortable for me. I didn't buy the SLS Roadster because, I have an SL63 and I prefer the metal roof and the comfort that it has over the Roadster. What I most don't understand about this car, is that its proposed pricing is set at the same amount I paid for my SL 63. While I applaud MB for making a hot looking car, its deluding its customer base, by simply making to many of the same thing. For me the Gullwing will always be iconic and I would love to have purchased, it just wasnt meant to be for me.
