The 2014 Audi A3 Cabrio has been confirmed for an official launch in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
A3 project manager Frank Herrmann confirmed during the Sedan's launch in Budapest, Hungary the A3 lineup will be expanded with a convertible which will be very different in comparison to its predecessor. In terms of styling, Herrmann hinted it could look like a smaller A5 Cabrio which isn't really a big surprise.
Engine lineup will be carried over from the A3 family so it should include a 1.8-liter TFSI developing 180 HP (132 kW) and a 2.0-liter TDI offered with 150 HP (110 kW) and 184 HP (132 kW). An S3 Cabrio is probably in the works with 300 HP (221 kW) and should be followed by the RS3 variant churning 400 HP (294 kW) from a 2.5-liter, 5-cylinder turbocharged engine.
