Features revised styling and an updated interior

Fiat has quietly unveiled the 2014 Idea facelift.

Modestly revised, the Attractive and Essence variants have a new grille, a lower honeycomb insert and revised fog light surrounds. The models are also equipped with restyled alloy wheels.

Interior changes are more dramatic as the Idea adopts a new dashboard with a revised center stack that features new air vents, improved controls and an updated audio system. The Adventure is also equipped with a new multifunction steering and an improved off-road instrumentation.

Engine options apparently carryover so expect choices to include:

  • A 1.4-liter four-cylinder with 80 HP (58 kW) and 119 Nm (87 lb-ft) of torque
  • A 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 115 HP (84 kW) and 159 Nm (117 lb-ft) of torque
  • A 1.8-liter four-cylinder with 130 HP (95 kW) and 180 Nm (132 lb-ft) of torque

There's no word on when the car will be launched, but Brazilian pricing will start at $43,290 BRL.

That piece of crap you see is considered a decent car here in Brazil. The version you see on the photo is the Idea Adventure, which starts roughly at US$ 25,000! We dream one day we will get fair prices as does most of the world...

unfortunately only on the US market i see prices kept on a fair level to the consumer. When compared to europe, where the same price as in the states buys you a smaller car from the same global manufacturer, with a low trim level. i'm not talking about premium brands, but regular, main stream...but in brazil i see there is simply no respect what so ever. other brands also (like renault, etc...) sell obsolete vehicles and practice impertinent retail prices. in europe the brand dacia is sold with such a huge profit / each car and still is cheap compared to the competitors that you just wonder what is really going on. the yearly and monthly bonuses of the corporate suits are unknown to the public and clients...i'd rather pay the actual builder and designer that some guy that only rips the benefits because he got into a high place just by steping on others, and draining their pockets

poor brazilian people...look what they receive for more than 15.000eur (20k usd). i think highway robbery from the automaker is an understatement. they should burn down the fiat corporate offices in brazil...in USA the same money buys you brand new automatic 2 liter kia soul. compared to this crap, kia soul is a mercedes s-class

the manufactures have to make profit and unfortunately like in a lot of countries we get an impression that we pay double to three times what other countries pay and it eventually turns out it's government taxes that affect pricing not manufacturers.

Should we get into this topic thoroughly?...Search wikipedia and find that this decade old car used the interior of a 20 year old car. This should make the amortization of investment virtually complete. All that remains is the actual cost of building the car (and they are cheap as hell). Various parts and components that retail on the spare parts markets with let's say 1 dollar, they cost the manufacturer 0.0001 dollars something...The VAT is below 20% in Brasil. Overall, for a decade old car max retail price should not jump over 8000 euros with good profits for the manufacturer in it. This pricing is what happens when the supply side on the markets has much more power than the demand side. Auto corporations versus a nation of good and peacefull people.

As far as I'm aware, the Idea is only sold in Latin America where the 500L isn't available.
