M Sport Package will be available from day one

A U.S.-spec 2014 BMW 4-Series fitted with the M Sport Package was photographed in Freising, 35 km north of Munich.

Seen here is a black 435i model destined for the North American market (judging by the orange side reflectors) wearing the M Sport Package which will be available from day one. It will be positioned above the Sportline and will come with different front and rear aprons, beefier alloys, along with some interior tweaks such as sports seats and steering wheel.

The 435i has a six-cylinder, 3.0-liter engine producing 300 bhp (224 kW) and 300 lb-ft (406 Nm), enough for a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) run in 5.3s with the manual and an electronically-capped top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

While the 435i has a starting price of 46,925 USD, the base 428i will be available for 41,425 USD. The lesser version has a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine generating 240 bhp (179 kW) and 255 lb-ft (345 Nm). 0-60 mph takes 5.7 while top speed remains intact. xDrive will increase price tag of both models by 2,000 USD.

BMW USA has previously mentioned the 428i Coupe and 435i Coupe will arrive in dealerships late this summer.

The front is okay. Difficult to tell side angles. But the rear, the boot/trunk lid extends too far down and the exhausts look like an afterthought.

yaadman has just proved my point: any car looks "good" in black since I cannot see the design anyway. One HUGE design element of the M Sport Package cannot be seen is the front lower air dam. But we have seen it in Estorial Blue in other web posts.

Looks like any other BMW to me, except the utterly ridiculous exhausts, no idea what that is all about. A real shame as I loved the concept.

Rear end ever so slightly reminiscent of the 8 series a bit perhaps?

How can one see the front end anyway? Why? Because it is totally black. Any car looks "good" in black since you can see the design anyway. A lot of BMW cars are in black not because the owners appreciate the design but because they think black means power. These people should just buy a black VW Beetle instead.

How did you get to the US-'specness'? Is it the orange light in the side bumper? How about the long EU plates and the lack of lights in the back bumper?

Its the markers. Only the US and Canada require them so they are a dead giveaway. The plates and the brackets are interchangeable so they mean nothing.

The front is ugly, no sport package can save the way the car's nose suddenly swoops downwards. Those exhaust pipes look like they don't belong there. The rest of the car is OK-ish...
