2013 Opel Insignia Sports Tourer facelift 12.06.2013

Due later this year

Opel and Vauxhall are preparing the Insignia Country Tourer which will be an Audi A6 Allroad competitor.

Due later this year, this new model will be based on the recently facelifted Opel/Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer and will be optionally available with four-wheel drive. Autocar says it will also come with an increased ride height and body cladding, together with beefier wheel arches, sill covers and modified front/rear bumpers. The interior cabin and engine lineup will be carried over from the standard Insignia.

The alleged Opel/Vauxhall Insignia Country Tourer is likely to be unveiled in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Didn't you hear? Range Rover sales have plummeted since the launch of the Mokka. There's unwanted used Range Rovers strewn across Opel dealer forecourts across the country...

I would consider the Insignia above the Passat and closer to the A6 (definitely below) but surely Opel aims higher. What did you expect them to say that it will rival the Skoda?

Yes, Skoda Octavia Scout, or maybe the A4 allroad, but not the A6 allroad. Remember Opel Signum ? They aimed too high with that car too.

Opel Insignia is between A4 and A6 because you should know that its wheelbase and body size is far more bigger than the A4. It is similar to Passatt which is also bigger than A4. Also Opel, except the last 9 years always had models in the A6 segment. Smaller than A6, yes. But as far as it concerns quality and reliability, quality is equaly high, and reliability is by far higher for opel. And until 1995 opel was selling by far more cars than Audi and by far a better company. And as far as the technology, Opel was once again leading with the Opel lotus Omega. S6 where were you? M5 where were you? Audi was nothing until those years. History is a good thing to read and remember.
