Audi has announced the A3 Sportback e-tron will reach dealerships next year at an estimated starting price of 38,000 EUR.
The car was shown back in March at the Geneva Motor Show featuring a revised 1.4-liter TFSI engine producing 150 HP (110 kW) and a 102 HP (75 kW) electric motor which provided a combined output of 204 HP (150 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm). These figures should be maintained once the production model arrives next year.
Power will be transferred to the front axle through a six-speed e-S tronic double-clutch gearbox which will send the car to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 7.6 seconds, en route to a top speed of 138 mph (222 km/h). According to Audi, the A3 Sportback e-tron can return 156.8 mpg US (188.3 mpg UK or 1.5 liters / 100 km) with just 35 g/km of CO2 emissions.
It can be used as an electric, hybrid or gasoline-powered car. In the first mode it can travel for up to 31 miles (50 km/h) and reach a top speed of 81 mph (130 km/h) thanks to an 8.8 kWh battery pack. The total range of the vehicle is estimated at around 553 miles (890 km).
