Shelby GT500 literally destroys dyno [videos]

In Sherbrooke, Quebec

A bright red Shelby GT500 convertible ended up destroying a dyno in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

It happened last week at the Expo Performance where a Shelby GT500 hopped on a dynamometer and then the person behind the wheel started to rev the engine. It all went smooth up until the point when the dyno exploded into pieces, causing damage to the car's rear wheels, suspension and possibly to its transmission as well.

Jalopnik is reporting security at the dyno wasn't very good but at least nobody got hurt after the explosion. Most likely the dyno blew up because it wasn't set properly to match the GT500's power.

Here’s an additional video from behind:

in fact the dyno wrecked the car as you see the back wheel in an unnatural position. the owner of the dyno has to pay heck load of money to the ford driver

Maybe the driver signed an agreement that is responsible for any damage to his car as he approved to test its car on that equipment.

Just before the accident happened there was a strange sound coming out of the dyno. I guess it was a bearing failure. Btw, normally when a dyno is running, no one is allow to stand in front of or behind the car, keep this mind if you were at a dyno testing.

After looking closely at the video one more time, at 0:53 you can see the dude with the cap backwards pointing his finger and then him and the other guy next to him made a step back, knowing something was about to go wrong.

Thanks for your tips and I watched it once again. Judging from the scene after the accident, it seems that the dyno's failure occurred on the righthand side of the car, the same side of that boy with cap.

Yeah. And the ones in the second video also back off moments before the boom.

Epic fail! Looks like the dyno rollers jumped the fence and hit vehicles in the car park too. Lucky that nobody was hurt.
