To debut later this year

The BMW 2-Series Coupe has been spied once again, this time wearing a bit less camouflage.

The prototype was grabbed on camera somewhere in Munich, ahead of a late 2013 launch. Since it will be based on the 1-Series hatchback, expect the same range of four-cylinder engines for the regular versions. In terms of design, BMW promised to make the 2-Series Coupe a bit sportier and will pack different head/taillights, bigger air intakes and a different front fascia.

Rear-wheel drive will be offered as standard, but at an additional cost all-wheel drive will be available. A warm M235i is programmed with a 6-cylinder, 3.0-liter engine with 320 HP (235 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm). The range-topping M2 due most likely in 2015 will get the same engine but tweaked to produce 350 HP (257 kW).

It reminds me of the size of an E36 but beefed up for today's standards, really anticipating this one!

But the question is, will it cost more than 3-series?

I'd expect a £1000-£1500 premium over the equivalent spec'd 1 series.
